Current projects
As the lead partner of Geopark Shetland, Shetland Amenity Trust, often in conjunction with the Geopark Shetland Working Group, will continue to raise awareness of Shetland’s geology, drive Shetland’s European Geopark bid and develop projects linked to Shetland’s geological heritage.
Current Projects Include
- Development of further self guided trail leaflets which will allow the public to discover Shetland’s unique Heritage and Culture, including a number of trails specifically linked to Shetland’s geological heritage.
- The creation of a geological exhibit in Yell.
li>Developing plans to create geo-gardens which will tell the story of the formation of Shetland.
- Development of a heritage and culture web-portal, to direct web users to Shetland’s heritage and cultural websites, including Geopark Shetland.
- Development of further interpretation at sites of interest.
Geopark Shetland is also looking at developing a number of partnership projects.
